The Lord Is Risen! Alleluia !

Happy Easter to you and your families.  As the grass begins to green and the spring flowers begin to appear, I am always reminded of the Pascal Mystery we are called to embrace; the dying and rising with the Lord.   The Rising we celebrate today with great joy.  But we are ever aware that not all are experiencing joy. The people of Ukraine are suffering from war, many people worldwide are refugees fleeing their homes for a safer and better life. Others are suffering from the coronavirus and other illnesses. These brothers and sisters of ours are dying with Christ and are awaiting a newness of life.

Through the centuries each generation of Jesus’ disciples has been challenged by their times and circumstances to follow the Lord in various ways.  One aspect of discipleship that has remained the same through the ages is that we share in the Pascal Mystery of our Savior; His suffering, death and Resurrection.  As we deal will the sufferings and deaths that we experience in our personal lives and collectively as God’s people may we remember that Jesus has journeyed the road before us, and has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us follow Him on the Way. Pray that the Holy Spirit may empower us in our daily lives to embrace the crosses that we are challenged to accept.  In the midst of all of our daily experiences may we remember that Christ has won the victory! We are a Resurrected People who are continually being brought to new life by our Risen Lord.  May we always place our Hope in the Lord and experience the journey of eternal life with him!

May you have a blessed Easter season, Father Bill

CRS Rice Bowl

ALLELUIA! HAPPY EASTER!  Our Lenten CRS Rice Bowl journey has ended, but our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving can continue as we seek a closer relationship with God and our global family. Let us hold in our hearts our sisters and brothers in Guatemala, Bangladesh and Rwanda and commit to share our Easter joy with those in our local community and around the world. Please return your Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl alms  to the church during the weekend Masses in the Easter Season. A separate basket will be in the churches for your Rice Bowl donations. If you make out a check for your donation, please make it out to G.S.C.C. and write CRS Rice Bowl on the memo line. Thank you for your generosity.
