May we prepare our hearts to receive Him

The major emphasis in the season of Advent is on waiting with joyful expectation to receive Our Savior. We are called to a deeper openness, receptivity, to the gift of God’s love and presence in our lives. In the season of Advent the Sunday gospel readings about the ministry of John the Baptist remind us of our need to repent of our sins. Repentance is clearly a key aspect in our preparation to receive the Lord Jesus into our lives. Repentance of our sins and reconciliation with our God and God’s people helps us to experience more fully God’s love and opens our hearts ever wider to the One who brings us healing, life and peace. I encourage you during this Advent Season to receive the Sacrament of Penance. Times are listed on the previous page of this bulletin when I will be available for confessions. If the times do not work for you please call the church office and make an appointment for confession.

CMA Update:

As we reflect on the gift of Christ as we approach Christmas, may we remember to share our gifts and blessings with others through our support of the Catholic Ministry Appeal. The following is a report of the progress of the 2022/2023 appeal as of November 28. I thank all of you who have given or made your pledge so far in support of the diocesan ministries. So far 68 parishioners have pledged or given $24,790 or 61.98 % of our parish goal of $40,000. If you haven’t already taken the opportunity to support this year’s appeal, I ask you to please consider doing so before the year ends. Your contribution helps support the many diocesan ministries that support our parish. If you wish you can make a pledge and pay in installments until May 31, 2023. Your gift would be greatly appreciated. God’s blessings and peace, Father Bill
