Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Labor Day has come and gone ! The schools have begun a new year and the fall weather is becoming more evident. This week our new Pastoral Council will be meeting as well. The members of this year’s Council are John Schmitt, Tom Steger, Anne Miller, Joe Gagnon, Cathy Sheils, Lori Kupiec, and Luke Gentry.
This year, as we celebrate the National Eucharistic Revival, we will begin our meeting in the church with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 7:00pm. The hour before the meeting from 6:00 to 7:00pm the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in St. Patrick Church in Aurora. All parishioners are invited to come for silent prayer before the Blessed Sacra-ment, and to stay as well for Benediction that will follow. We will do this before each of our scheduled meetings throughout the year. Our scheduled meeting dates are Sept. 15, 2022, Oct. 20, 2022, Nov.17, 2022, Jan. 19, 2023, Feb. 16, 2023, Apr. 20, 2023 and June 15, 2023.
We hope to be having other days of Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament as well. We do have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament each month after the 9:00am First Friday Mass at Our Lady of the Lake, King Ferry. I encourage you during this time of Eucharistic Revival to take advantage of the opportunities to sit in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. The Lord often speaks to our hearts when we sit in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus might have a message for you.
If you haven’t yet registered your children for Faith Formation, please do so by contacting the Faith Formation office, which is located at 299 Clark Street, Auburn, NY 13021, the office phone number is 315-252-7593. The first Information meeting regard-ing First Penance and First Eucharist has already taken place; if you missed it please contact the Faith Formation office soon. This week is the Confirmation orientation meeting for those beginning the two-year preparation process for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This process usually begins in the 8th grade; parents and candidates for Confirmation are asked to attend.
Parents please help your children to grow in their faith by helping them to experience the love of God for them. Knowledge of God and his ways is so important; as parents you are the first educators of your children in the ways of the faith. Please take that role seriously by sharing your faith with them, praying with them at home. and with the community of faith at Sunday Mass. Your example for them is so important. Whether you register them for Faith Formation classes or decide to join the Home Schooling Program, or if you send them to Catholic School, the example you give them in your family life is irreplaceable in helping them know and experience the person of Jesus and the love of God for them in their lives. Give them that wonderful gift!
