I will be on vacation beginning this Thursday. I will be flying to St. Louis to visit my sister, Cathy’s family in Fenton,
MO. It has been a while since I went to St. Louis. We think the last time I was there was to see the Dodgers and Cardinals in the
2014 playoff. After I watched the Dodgers lose to the Cards I visited my sister at her home. I have seen her and her husband, Carl, a number of times when they came east for visits, but not since before Covid. Since I was last there two of her sons bought homes on the same street so it will be great to see them all for a few days.
I will then fly out to Spokane, WA and visit my brother David. The last time I saw David was after he had his liver transplant
surgery. He was then living in Issaquah; since that time he and his wife Carmen have moved twice! First they bought a house in
Tacoma, WA, then they sold that home and bought a house in Spokane Valley, WA. I have seen pictures of their home, but needless to say I have not seen it in person. David has been working on a rock garden there and I’m eager to see how it is coming along. David also began raising Tumbler and Roller pigeons on his new property. He used to raise pigeons when we were boys, and he never lost tethe love of raising them. I am looking forward to my visits with them. It will be the first time I have seen either of them since my sisr Sharon died in July of 2020. With Covid at its peak then, neither of them were able to be at her funeral in person. Covid sure has been hard on families in many ways. Father Daniel Condon will be helping out with the Masses next weekend. Father Richard Cawley will also be here and will be helping with the weekday Masses on September 1st and 2nd. Please pray that I make all my connecting flights. See you Labor Day weekend.
God’s Blessings and peace, Father Bill
