Building Strong Catholic Families Faith Formation Lifelong & Ongoing
Parents are mortified when their children act greedy in front of guests. We are constantly reminding our children to say, “Please” and “Thank You”. Gratitude is a virtue and like all virtues grows when we practice the virtue. In this age of consumerism and the “mecentered” focus of today’s culture, we must refrain from feelings of self-entitlement. Materialism and consumerism prevent us from enjoying and being appreciative of all that we have. We cannot think that we have a right to demand without giving anything in return and without giving thanks for all we are. Some ways to practice gratitude: Grace before all meals, Giving thanks to God for the many blessings we have, focusing on the good in our lives and the good in others, Not lamenting or complain about the things they do not have, and Appreciating others and the things they do for us to name a few. What are some ways your family can practice and grow in the virtue of gratitude.

Second: By looking at the human person
